Tee Higgins Commitment To Bengals Amid Trade Talk

Despite his public trade request, Tee Higgins doesn’t envision himself suiting up for another team in 2024. The Bengals wide receiver, who has been pushing for a new contract, believes that Cincinnati won’t trade him before the upcoming season kicks off.

“I anticipate (playing for the Bengals in 2024),” Higgins stated via Fox19. “I’ve developed a fondness for Cincy that I didn’t expect. Looking forward to it.”

Higgins’ desire to remain in Cincinnati is longstanding; he simply seeks long-term commitment from the team. Currently, he’s set to play the 2024 season under the franchise tag, which will earn him $21.816 million.

While the Bengals haven’t ruled out re-signing Higgins, discussions for a new deal reportedly haven’t occurred since last offseason. This lack of progress led to Higgins’ trade request earlier this offseason, sparking ongoing speculation about his future with the team.

Although the Bengals’ management has expressed interest in retaining Higgins, they could reconsider if presented with an irresistible offer. A mid-first round pick, for instance, might prompt them to trade Higgins before or during the NFL Draft.

Cincinnati wouldn’t struggle to find suitors for Higgins if they opt for a trade. Teams like the Steelers, in search of a seasoned wide receiver, have reportedly explored trading for Higgins.

Regardless of his destination, Higgins aims for a standout year after injuries hampered his performance last season. With Joe Burrow’s return from a wrist injury that ended his previous season, Higgins is poised to thrive, potentially in his final year with Cincinnati.
