Director Yeon Sang-ho Expresses Confidence in “Parasyte: The Grey”

The morning of March 26th saw the convening of the press conference for “Parasyte: The Grey” at Seoul Dragon City in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. In attendance were actors Jeon So-nee, Koo Kyo-hwan, Lee Jung-hyun, Kwon Hae-Hyo, Kim In-kwon, director Yeon Sang-ho, and writer Ryu Yong-jae, who shared intriguing anecdotes about the series.

“Parasyte: The Grey” is a Netflix production that is the narrative of enigmatic parasitic creatures descending from outer space, inhabiting and ultimately controlling human hosts, thereby establishing their faction. The series draws its inspiration from the manga series “Parasyte” penned by Hitoshi Iwaaki.

Director Yeon Sang-ho shed light on his creative process, stating, “As an animation director, I regard the original work as a sacred text. I contemplated the concept of transposing ‘Parasyte’ from its Japanese setting to a Korean milieu, envisioning a narrative of coexistence.” He emphasized the divergence of his adaptation from the original, underlining its status as a distinct storyline exploring the theme of coexistence.

Director Yeon articulated his perspective on the project, describing it as a venture undertaken by a devoted enthusiast of the original material. He expressed unwavering confidence in the series, asserting that even ardent fans of the original “Parasyte” manga would find satisfaction in the adaptation.

Netflix’s much-anticipated series, “Parasyte: The Grey,” is slated for release on April 5th, promising audiences a fresh perspective on the thrilling narrative of parasitic creatures and human survival.
