The original Kinnikuman manga series was created by the creative duo Yudetamago and was launched in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump on May 26, 1979 until May 4, 1987. The manga returned in 2011 for a new continuation and is currently serialized on Shupure NEWS. A total of 84 tankobon volumes have been released under the Jump Comics label as of March 2024.

To prove his worthiness for the planet’s throne, he enters several wrestling tournaments and battles many evil supermen known as the evil Choujins.
