Near Christmas, a drug dealer named Sollozzo asks Vito to invest in his narcotics business and protection from the law, but Vito declines since it could mean that he will lose his political connections.
Vito becomes suspicious of Sollozzo’s connection with the Tattaglia crime family and sends Luca to investigate, but he is killed during the initial meeting. They also kidnap Tom and hurt Vito, which results in Vito’s first-born Sonny taking charge of the family.
Sollozzo tells Tom to persuade Sonny to accept his deal, but Sonny hits one of Tattaglia’s members to avenge Luca’s death. Vito, who is in the hospital, is visited by Michael, his youngest son, who sees that Sollozzo’s men have removed all the policemen, and his father is left unprotected. He makes a plan to meet Sollozzo and his corrupt policeman Mark but ends up killing both of them.

2. Casablanca (1942)
Casablanca is a romantic drama film set during World War II and follows Rick Blaine, an expatriate, and owner of the nightclub ‘Rick’s Cafe Americain’ who encounters a variety of customers, including Nazi German officers, refugees who want to contact the United States and also the ones who are against them. He tries to be indifferent but feels bad for their unfortunate situation.
Rick is visited by Ugarte, who is a petty crook, and shows him ‘letters of transit,’ which he obtained by killing two couriers. The papers are of great importance since they play the role of a free pass to European countries under the rule of Germans and some parts of Portugal.
Ugarte plans on selling them in his Club and tells ruck to hold onto them until the client arrives, but he gets arrested before he can meet his client and dies in custody without revealing that the letters are with Rick. Ilsa Lund, the former lover of Rick, arrives at his bar and tells Sam, the house pianist, to play ‘as time goes by.’
Hearing the song, Rick heads over to Sam to Chastise him but forgets about it after he sees Ilsa standing there. Ilsa reveals that she has come to him for the letters of transit so that she can flee to America along with her husband Victor, who is a renowned fugitive and resistance leader and is on the verge of getting arrested.
The rest of the film follows Rick as he decides whether to help her former lover, whom he still had feelings for or not, while he is stuck between the crossfire of Victor and the police, who are hell-bent on catching him. Casablanca grossed 6.9 million dollars against a budget of almost 1 million.

3. The Lord of The Rings: The Return of The King (2003)
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of The King is a fantasy adventure film and the last installment of the Trilogy. It followed the story of Smeagol and Deagol, two hobbits that were fishing when one of them discovered the One Ring in the river.
Smeagol is enchanted with the Ring and kills his cousin Deagol to get his hands on it. The Ring corrupts his mind and body, leading him to stay in Misty Mountains, which leads him to harbor the name Gollum.
Centuries later, Gandalf is leading Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, and King Theoden to Isengard, where they come across Pippin and Merry. Gandalf comes to know that Gondor’s capital Minas Tirith is about to be attacked by the enemy and travels there to warn them along with Pippin.
Frodo, who carries the Ring, and Sam are heading toward Mordor, led by Gollum, who is planning on stealing the Ring from them. He manages to get rid of Sam by lying to Frodo that he ate all the food supplies and then later deceives Frodo by sending him toward a big Spider, but he manages to escape, and they both begin to fight.
Gollum falls down a chasm, and the spider returns to paralyze and bind Frodo. Sam returns in time and kills the spider before taking the Ring from Frodo’s body.
The rest of the film follows the good and the evil forces as they battle one last time to take control of the future of the Middle-Earth. Like its prequel, the film was a commercial success grossing 1.146 billion dollars against a budget of 94 million dollars, and was regarded as one of the greatest and most influential films ever made.
4. City Lights (1931)
City Lights is an American silent romantic comedy film starring Charlie Chaplin. The film follows Charlie’s son, also known as the Tramp, as he comes across a flower girl while wandering in the streets and gets smitten with her after realizing that the girl is blind. The girl mistakes for a chauffeur’s voice while the Tramp is leaving.
That same evening, the Tramp stops a drunken millionaire from committing suicide. The millionaire invites him to his mansion for a drink and a night out of town.
The next morning, he helps the millionaire in getting home before going to see the flower girl and buys all the flowers from the money he had received from the millionaire and gives her a ride home in the millionaire’s car. The millionaire, now sober, doesn’t remember the Tramp and kicks him out of his mansion.
The rest of the film follows the Tramp as he comes to know that the flower girl is sick and needs money for her eye operation, so he decides to get the money from the millionaire who gives it to him but later forgets and decides to get him arrested. Will the Tramp and flower girl’s story have a happy ending? City Lights is the 11th-best American film ever made.

5. The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
The Shawshank Redemption is an American drama film that follows the story of Andy Dufresne, a former banker, as he is convicted of two consecutive life imprisonment for the murder of his wife and her lover. Upon his arrival in Shawshank State Prison, he is welcomed by Ellis Redding, also known as Red, with a rock hammer and a large poster of Rita Hayworth.
Andy gets sexually assaulted by ‘the sisters’ and their leader, Bogs, while working in the prison laundry, so when he overhears the head of the guard, Bryon, worrying about his taxes, Andy offers to help in exchange for protection. When the next time Bogs almost kills him to death, Bryon hits and cripples Bogs, which results in her being transferred to another prison.
The rest of the film follows his journey in prison as he uniquely tackles every problem that comes his way while also befriending fellow prisoners. The Shawshank Redemption was not a commercial hit because, during its premiere in 1994, various other movies like Pulp Fiction and Forrest Gump had also premiered, causing a slump in its viewers. Titanic is an American romantic film based on the true story of RMS Titanic, which sank in April 1912. 7. Pulp Fiction (1994)
Pulp Fiction is an American crime film written by Quentin Tarantino about different crime stories in Los Angeles, California. It follows two hitmen, Jules and Vincent, as they arrive at a business partner named Brett’s house to retrieve a suitcase for their gangster boss Marsellus.
Jules and Vincent kill Brett for double-crossing their boss before going back to hand over the suitcase to Marsellus, who was bribing a boxer to lose in his next match. The next day, Vincent buys heroin before heading to meet with Marsellus’s wife, Mia, whom he had agreed to drive since Marsellus was out of town. They have lunch at a restaurant, participate in a contest and then head home.
While Vincent is in the bathroom, Mia consumes Vincent’s heroin thinking that it is cocaine. Vincent returns and sees Mia has overdosed on heroin, so he takes her to his friend, who is able to save her with an injection of adrenaline into her heart.
The rest of the film follows Marsellus as he seeks out the boxer who he had bribed to throw the match as he tries to escape after winning the match. Pulp Fiction was named one of the best films ever made by Entertainment Weekly in 2008.

9. Fight Club (1999)
Fight Club is a 1999 American film that follows the story of a nameless narrator who is dissatisfied with his life and decides to attend a support group for problems he doesn’t have, like alcoholism and cancer. In one such support group, he encounters Marla, who is also lying about having problems and attending support groups.
Her presence reminds him of his dishonesty, so he makes a deal with her to divide the groups among them, and Marla agrees. On a flight, the narrator meets a soap salesman Tyler who tells him that he is trapped in consumerism.
As the Narrator reaches home, he finds out that all his belongings and house have been destroyed in an explosion, so he contacts Tyler and moves in with him. The two start fistfights in the parking lot of a bar which catches the attention of more men, and soon they start a Fight Club in the basement of that bar.
The rest of the film follows the narrator as he quits his job and invites more people to the Fight Club while Tyler recruits them to his new organization, Project Mayhem’ which indulges in acts of vandalism.
The Narrator complains about not being included in the organization, and soon, Project Mayhem has gotten out of hand and spread all over the world, which can only be stopped by the Narrator. Fight Club became a commercial success grossing 101.2 million dollars with a budget of 65 million dollars during its premiere in theatres.

The rest of the film follows Sulley and Mike as they try to keep the girl hidden from other monsters while trying to find her portal door to send her back to her room which turns out to be a lot harder than they had expected.
The film grossed 577.4 million dollars against a budget of 115 million dollars. A prequel of the film premiered in 2013 named Monsters University, and a tv series called Monsters at Work premiered in 2021 on Disney Plus.

Before Sunrise is a romantic film and is the first installment of the Before Tr logy. Before Sunrise follows the story of an American tourist Jesse as he meets Celine, who is a French student, by chance.
After realizing that they have a connection between them, Jesse asks Celine if she would like to spend the day with him in Vienna before his flight the next day, and Celine agrees. Jesse and Celine end up falling in love after spending just one day.
Will Jesse decide to stay with Celine and spend more time with her, or will he leave thinking if this is fate, then they will meet again? Due to the film’s popularity, two sequels were made called Before Sunset, which premiered in 2004, and the second sequel called Before Midnight was released in 2013.

They looked for gigs that might help them to escape, but the only job they could find was an all-girl group of musicians heading to Fl rida. Joe and Jerry dress up as girls and join the band, fleeing the town with them.

Some Like It Hot was a huge hit commercially, grossing 49 million dollars which made it one of the highest-grossing films of all time. In 1989, the film was registered in the United States National Film Registry.

The rest of the film follows Captain miller and his eight men as they try to save Private Ryan before it’s too late. Saving Private Ryan received several awards for its emotional storyline, cinematography, and other factors. It grossed 485 million dollars against a budget of 70 million, making it a huge success.

56. Ratatouille (2007)
Ratatouille is an animated film about a rat named Remy who dreams of becoming a chef like his deceased idol Auguste Gusteau. One day, he comes across Alfredo Linguini, who works as a garbage boy at Gusteau’s restaurant as he attempts to make a soup but ends up making it worse.
Remy, who had accidentally ended up in the kitchen, tries to escape from there, but as he passes by the soup and takes a whiff of it, he starts fixing it by putting in several herbs and other ingredients. Linguini sees Remy and tries to hide him from the chef as he tries to escape through the window.
Linguini later asks Remy to help him make the soup again as he is challenged by Skinner, the sous-chef and the owner of the restaurant. The rest of the film follows the two as they form a friendship and help each other to achieve what they dreamed of: becoming a chef. Ratatouille was the sixth highest-grossing film of 2007, with a total of 623.7 million dollars.
