Gabrielle Union’s daughter, Kaavia James, is maturing at a rapid pace.
The 51-year-old actress recently posted a heartwarming video on Friday, capturing daughter Kaavia’s delightful transformation from a baby to her current 5-year-old self. In the footage, baby Kaavia was seen seated on a couch, adorned in a yellow knitted ensemble with a matching headwrap.
The video seamlessly transitioned to a more recent clip, showcasing the charming young girl donned in a black sweater adorned with white stars, a black skirt, and an adorable white hair bow.
Prior to her musical performance, Gabrielle Union, behind the camera, inquired of Kaavia, “What’s the song about?”
Kaavia, responding to Union’s question, declared, “It’s about, leave me alone.” With a hint of warning, she described it as a “really mean song.” The spirited 5-year-old proceeded to sing lyrics expressing her desire not to be stared at, emphasizing “leave me alone” as she gracefully walked away from the actress, bidding her goodbyes.
“Whoa! That wasn’t really nice!” responded Union. The “Perfect Find” star, expressing confusion, later posted a gif of herself, questioning, “Who exactly was this song for?”
“Caught a stray and landed in my feelings,” the actress said of her daughter’s song in the caption. “ … then she asked for her masters.”
Union later wrote on her Instagram Story as she reposted the video,” They grow up so fast. And then they read you for filth.”
In addition to sharing adorable moments with Kaavia, Union and Wade boast a blended family, comprising Wade’s four children: Zaire, 21, and Zaya, 16, from his previous marriage to Siovaughn Funches, and Xavier, 10, from his relationship with Aja Metoyer.
On his Instagram Story, the ex-NBA player shared additional glimpses of the family’s enjoyable moments. A photo depicted Union donned in silk shorts, a silk tank, a headscarf, sunglasses, knee-length socks, and black backless heels. Wade, on the other hand, sported a dark hoodie, dark pants, a black cap, and white socks with sneakers. His ensemble was completed with a patterned shawl around his neck and small pink sunglasses.

Wade added a lively touch by sharing a fun video featuring him dancing to Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s “Barbie Girl” track in his stylish outfit.

Union’s recent post featuring Kaavia follows her Instagram sharing of side-by-side portraits, drawing a striking resemblance between her lookalike daughter and herself from years ago in matching outfits. In a 1991 snapshot, Union wore a black dress with white puffy sleeves and pearl earrings for her “senior ball,” a look replicated by Kaavia in the present. In the caption, Union humorously declared that Kaavia “definitely wore it better” in this nostalgic throwback.
