Kyoto Man Arrested After Attacking Coworker Over Oshi no Ko Spoilers

A man in his 50s, employed by the Kyoto District Legal Affairs Bureau, was arrested following an altercation with a subordinate who shared Oshi no Ko manga spoilers.

On February 1st, within the Kyoto District Legal Affairs Bureau Uji Branch, located in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture, an office conversation took an unexpected turn. The accused man grabbed his subordinate by the chest and kicked him around the waist after he was told about the developments in the Oshi no Ko manga series. The subordinate was not badly injured.

The male employee, involved in an assault incident over Oshi no Ko spoilers, is now under prosecution while continuing work at the main office of the Kyoto District Legal Affairs Bureau.

Oshi no Ko is a manga series written by Aka Akasaka (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) and illustrated by Mengo Yokari (Scum’s Wish). Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump has been serializing the series since April 2020 and it currently has 14 volumes in circulation.

The manga inspired an anime by Doga Kobo and will have a second season premiere this July. The series also received a live-action adaptation. Yen Press is publishing the manga in English and they describe the first volume as follows:
Gorou is an ob-gyn with a life far removed from the glitz and glamour of the entertainment industry—the world of his favorite idol, rising star Ai Hoshino. But when the two are unexpectedly brought together, their fates become intertwined in ways that defy all reason. For the good doctor, it’s time to stan(d) and deliver!
