Vera Season 13 Episode 2: Release Date, Spoilers & Recap

Northumberland’s greatest detective, Vera Stanhope, comes across yet another intriguing murder case that seems all too simple at first. After last week’s market trader hit and run managed to be a complex facade for something more sinister, this season’s going to be taking Vera’s crime cases up another notch.

ITV’s Vera is a crime drama showcasing Vera Stanhope, a nearly retired detective who solves various strange cases in this city. Despite her age, Vera spends most of her time at the office trying to unravel each case and think outside the box to find the truth behind them.

Her disheveled state might make it seem that work’s all she cares about, but over the years, Vera has shown countless times that her calculating mind also deeply cares about those around her, including colleagues, friends, and family. She develops a close connection to Joe Ashworth and Aiden Healy.

Besides Brenda Blethyn in the role of Vera, the rest of the cast members of Vera include David Leon as Joe Ashworth, Jon Morrison as DC Kenny, Riley Jones portrays Mark Edwards, Sarah Kameela plays Dr. Paula Bennett, and Rhiannon Clements plays the role of DC Stephanie Duncan.

Vera Season 13 Episode 1: Recap

The episode “Fast Love” starts with Vera Stanhope being called to a quiet countryside to investigate a seemingly normal hit-and-run case that involved a young man in his twenties. Looking at it made it obvious that the boy, who was a market trader, was probably killed on the spot after colliding with a car.

Vera gets a closer look at the guy, and it’s almost immediately obvious that this isn’t just any other road accident. The injuries lead Vera to assume that this guy was run over on purpose. After getting more details about him, Vera finds out that Danny was a popular trader and was known to have a bad tongue.

Stanhope tries to investigate deeper and figures that the killer could be Basma, the wife of Mr. Shah, who was spotted arguing with Danny hours before the trader was found dead. Basma saw Shah and Danny that day and followed Danny to take revenge for what he had done to her life.

Danny was an arrogant and rude guy who didn’t care about the consequences, so Basma thought cornering and confronting him would be the best way to solve things. However, that’s not what happens; Basma hits him with her car and then goes back to her home. Vera correctly guesses the killer yet another time.
